The STARS Gala was to be the last Galah for Chair Carolyn Colling, who surprised everyone with her version of All That Jazz and received a standing ovation!!

MC Peter Colling introduced Hot Gospel Groove whose members numbered around 40 proceeded to the front of the stage lead by Quentin Eyers and sang with passion some five gospel numbers with a wonderful response from the audience. The choir were invited to stay free of charge and enjoy the night so packed the back of the Show Hall.

Next was the Banana Man who threw his bananas around the stage to the tune of Hey Mr. Tallyman, Tallyme Banana with audience joining in.  This was a return of his Cinemallunga performance and was followed by his wife Kay with a clever singing story of relationships. Two brave and silly STARS supporters. Bravo.

Our darling local actor Meme Thorne partnered with Peter Colling to recite Peter's fringe skit, Choice.  Meme certainly warmed to the role with some hilarious results.  The audience loved it.

After a brief explanation of the reason for Carolyn's retirement after 17 years with STARS, 11 of them as Chair, she was presented with gifts and thankyous from friends and committee and duly thanked them all.

The rest of the night consisted of hot Adelaide band Jazz it Up who played covers from Ed Sherran, Abba, Beatles and of course Elvis.  The party continued with the remaining audience dancing the night away.

A suitable celebration for Christmas at STARS.

Thankyou for Dave McDonald for his usual willing assistance with stage and lighting and to Stage Manager Don (Hon) and his wife Noeline and everyone who helped in setup, flowers, bar attendants etc.
