Cancer Council Morning Tea

May 2014

On a beautiful autumn day, Thursday May 15, 45 guests were entertained at Waverley House to a fund raising Morning Tea in aid of  Cancer
Research.

The theme of the event was to ‘Create a corsage for Cancer Cure’ and some beautiful creations appeared. The prize winning corsage was a felt flower and the second prize went to a creation of feathers.

Guests were treated to scones, jam and cream, entertained by Jenny and her Little Sisters of Abundance Choir, a Fishing poem from Nancy, a collection of delicate felt flowers by Jan Munzberg which she sold for the fund raiser and a number of raffle prizes kindly donated by local identities; Corinna of ‘I Am Tall Poppy’, Frieda, from ‘The Three Monkeys’, Dianne Perry , from ‘Perry Fruit and Nuts’ Carolyn, from ‘The Chocolate Box’ and Liz Elder , for a free massage.

Nancy gave a short address on the work of the Cancer Council in SA , last year’s State fund raising of $1 million for cancer research at the morning teas and an insight into the work  of the 70 sponsored researches engaged in ground-breaking discoveries on the management of this disease.  Our Morning tea raised $620 towards the State Fund.

I would like to thank all the sponsors, the loyal guests who support us and the energetic committee who coped with tea-pots, coffee pots  urns and table service so admirably.
