CORIOLE WINERY        MAY 17 2017

Our first Morning Tea event for the year, held in the music room at Coriole Winery, was a fund-raiser for the Beyond Blue program and was a great success, with over fifty members attending. Proceeds from the entry fee and the raffle came to just over $700.

On arrival guests were offered tea, coffee and a wide selection of pastries and biscuits and were then invited to take their place in the piano room, which overlooks a stunning view of the McLaren Vale hinterland and was an ideal setting for the event. Thanks to Libby Raupach and Mark Lloyd for offering it to STARS.

Mistress of Ceremonies Carolyn Colling introduced the proceedings, which began with a short and mysterious exhibition of the art of conjuring by Professor Orlando, accompanied by Greg John on piano. (Which, by the way, is a baby grand.)

The Professor was followed by Greg's top class barbershop quartet, Fifty Shades of Grey, singing beautifully. Strangely, there were only four of them, one being Greg's brother.

After a short interval for further refreshments Greg conducted a singalong, with words to twenty or so old favourites being projected onto a screen.

The morning ended with a traditional STARS raffle. It did seem to go on for a bit long, but never mind.

Many thanks to Greg John for giving his time and talent, to Elizabeth (EB) Boydell for organising the refreshments and to all who donated food and raffle prizes.
