Tatachilla College Auditorium, Saturday October 7th 2017

Our second ASO concert at Tatachilla, two years after the first one, was once again a great event.

Julie Howard compered the performance, as she did two years ago, for which effort we thank her greatly.

Conducted by Michael Dahlenberg, the orchestra of fifty players began with a fine rendition of the overture from Rossini's The Barber of Seville, followed by Hummel's Trumpet Concerto in E major, giving soloist Owen Morris a fine opportunity to show his talent. After interval the players gave us a beautiful performance of Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4, Italian.

Minko's Wines sponsored the event and Margo Kellet of Minko's worked flat out, assisting Murray Young at one of the three  temporary bars in the foyer.

There was a pop-up coffee machine outside, near the foyer. The weather was perfect. Andy Clappis provided a superb buffet meal for the hungry and most appreciative orchestra members. The audience of 250 loved the performance and all in all it was a great night and another acclaimed STARS event.

The only problem was that for some reason we did not attract people in sufficient numbers. At the 2015 concert the audience numbered 500.

Ah well, such is life. Once again thanks to our dedicated band of volunteers - Joan, Tess, Brian, Peter, Camille, Murray, Mike, Margo, Susan, Liz, EB, Woodsie, Jo,  Meredith and Liz. And not forgetting our tireless leader, Carolyn.
